What is Pelvic  PT?

Pelvic physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues of the pelvic floor and how it relates to the entire body. The pelvic floor muscles may become weak, tight or spastic as a result of disuse, surgery or trauma. Pelvic PT is used to treat a variety of conditions affecting the pelvic region, including pain, dysfunction, and muscle weakness or tightness. This therapy can help improve bladder and bowel control, sexual function, reduce pain, provide stability and improve overall well-being for men, women and children. Pelvic physical therapy needs postgraduate education to effectively treat this population.
